Red and Green Farmhouse Style Christmas Day Table Setting

 Happy Christmas!

This year even though I had a larger table and less decorations, it seemed to come together better and look more festive. I put it down the the fairy lights over the door, table and shining from our tree that created the perfect backdrop.

I decided to add a white table cloth to our extended table, and I must say I am liking the white better than the wood stain I finished it with. Maybe I'll paint it in the future, similar to my old one with faux planks. (Don't tell hubby cause he has been at me to paint it white. lol)

I also purchased 4 extra wooden chairs on Marketplace that were very similar to our current ones in shape and height. And over the few days prior to Christmas the kids helped me apply three coats of white paint to them so they matched our current ones.

For the runner I used some red and green tartan wrapping paper I had left over from last year. And layered it with fax pine garlands, then intermittently added the bottle brush trees I created this year with the old wooden spindle bases.

For the centrepiece I used my grapevine wreath, decorated with different size green bottle brush trees, and layered on some old books for height. In the centre I used my favourite glass dome with an LED candle inside.

For the place settings I purchased paper place mats from Provincial Home Living. I love that I can create different settings each year using inexpensive paper place mats. I teamed this with white plates, red paper napkins, gold cutlery and red bonbons. I also hot glued glitter ornaments on the bon bons for a bit of bling. And for glasses I used both clear and green glass.

The orb light above the table is also from Provincial Home Living. I have wanted one for a few years now and when they went on sale for 50% off, I decided to take the plunge. I'm so glad I did. It looks so cute over the table and matches well with the fairy lights over the doors.

It felt like a tight squeeze with the larger table but everyone seemed to have plenty of room.

I love this picture taken from behind the Christmas tree.

And when it was time to place the food on the table, I simply picked up the decorations so the food could be placed along the paper runner. A huge thank you to my wonderful husband for cooking the delicious roasts. They were awesome!

I also had to set another 2 places on the ends of the table for 2 special guests this year. It was lovely to have you both Mi and Moira. Again, I thought it might have been a bit tight around the table but it all came together fine. And thank you to my brother Paul for bringing 2 extra chairs.

A big thank you to my beautiful daughter for helping me this year's trifle. It turned out amazing! We put a bit more time and effort in to creating more distinct layers, freezing fruit pieces into the jelly and setting each layer in the bowl prior to adding another. We even thickened our own custard as the double custard was sold out. (Good to remember to get in earlier next year.) I think my daughter did an amazing job of decorating the top of the trifle! Thank you Holly.

But we never have just one dessert. My sister in law made a berry trifle (my daughter's favourite and the dessert she looks forward to every year) and some Portugese tarts which were a first and absolutely delicious. Thank you Grace!

I thought I would share some additional photos I took. Here is another view of the dining and living rooms. Our cat Raven hid most the day but was out for the photo shoot in the morning.

The little vintage coffee table is also a new addition to the living room this year.

I love our tree this year too. It's fairy lights looked magical and the tied red ribbons gave it a vintage vibe.

So that is a wrap for this year's Christmas. It took me a lot longer to pull it all together despite starting just as early, but I am super happy with the results.

I hope everyone had a good Christmas and was able to share it with friends and loved ones.
