2025 Christmas Home Tour
Welcome to my 2025 Christmas Home Tour.
It's been a busy year and I haven't had much time to post but I really wanted to get Christmas up (and hopefully before Christmas was over, lol).
So here we go!
LIVING ROOM
This year I purchased this cute vintage coffee table to replace our round one.
I love that we can still fit the foot stools underneath.
In the corner I also purchased during the year this vintage spice rack. It's huge. Much bigger than I was expecting and too big for the kitchen. So instead, I took down the farmhouse shelves in the living room.
I'm not sure what I'll put in it after Christmas, but I love all it's original patina.
The side table is also new. It was a score from the thrift store and the legs match in with the coffee table. I love that it has a little drawer and that it is bigger than my old wooden side tables.
I made these bottle brush tree stands from some old mirror spindles I had
. I cut them down to different heights and distressing the paint. I drilled a small hole in the top of each and added a drop of hot glue to secure the trees.
OUR TREE
This year I purchased a new tree from Amazon. I wanted a tree with more realistic branches this year and less snow. This one came with realistic branches on the outside and more faux ones on the inside, giving it a fuller less sparse appearance. I had to go down in size to 180cms so it wasn't too wide at the base. I'm still very happy with the height.
For the base I decided to use a traditional large cane basket. It is big enough to place a round tree holder in the bottom to replace the large rectangular one that came with the tree.
I kept the vintage mirror on the wall behind the tree as it reflects the tree lights to give a magic glow. I also purchased new lights from Amazon. They are the ones that you draped down each side of the tree and then tuck in. They are so easy to put on and distribute evenly.
This year I stuck with my traditional farmhouse neutrals but incorporated pops of red, mostly using lots of lux velvet ribbons.
The clock I purchased online and absolutely love.
And the little bottle brush trees I created their bases from an old spindle leg off a hall table. Using different height bases and different size trees gives each one a unique look that blends perfectly.
I've had the gold tree for years and it's also still a favourite each year.
COSY LITTLE TV CORNER
I also love decorating this little corner. The vintage card drawers are a new thrift, and the little cabinet I picked up last January holidays.
The church I have had for a few years. It was previously white but this year I gave it a coat of brown paint and added some little cream trees.
DINING ROOM
The table is also a new addition. I decided to replace our old white table with an extension table. We always run short of place settings at Christmas so I wanted a table I could open up at Christmas and keep closed the rest of the year. This one is from Ikea and I found it on Market Place. It was the original light pine colour. I sanded off all the clear varnish and added a coat of darker stain to the top, and painted the legs white to match in with the original chairs.
I created this simple table centrepiece using a wreath, then added some green bottle brush trees.
On the inside I placed a candle encased in a glass dome. It can be moved around on Christmas day.
On my feature wall I created a Christmas themed gallery style wall display. I was able to use some of the current frames and just swap out the pictures.
I especially love the vintage Santa canvas. I ordered this last year off Temu and used my own frame.
FRENCH DOORS
You may remember I also painted the back wall of the dining room a gorgeous shade of vintage green earlier this year. I love how it frames out the french doors.
This year I hung a white curtain rod above the doors, and draped branches of garlands over it. I also added some cute lights to the branches which automatically come on at night with the tree lights.
On the doors I added large wreaths, tied with dark red velvet ribbons.
DINING ROOM FARMHOUSE HUTCH
I also love decorating this vintage hutch I thrifted and painted a few years ago.
I replaced the bases on these trees with some bases from some old brass bowels I thrifted. They just screwed right off. I used a bit of glue to hold the stems in place and presto, they look adorable.
I also collected a few bowls from the op shop to make a glass tree this year. I just arranged them in size and hot glued them together. I think it turned out alright. :)
I also added a cute green velvet bow to this old set of scales.
And on the DIY drawers I added some new wooden bases to my crochet trees.
