Christmas Mantel and Crochet Christmas Garland

I'm excited to be decorating our mantel for Christmas this year. 

I've gone with a white, gold and green wintery village scene.  

I always have to decorate around our fireplace flue, which can be annoying, but Iv'e also tried to blend it in with my decor. 

For my mantle I started with a bed of white fluffy wadding to represent snow. 

Then added wooden and bottle brush trees in neutral colours. I added this adorable snowy light up house and an old jug of green pine branches. 

A tea light candle in a gold holder sets the ambience. 

On the right side of the mantle I added another cute little house, and sat it on an old wooden spool to give it height. I added some more wood and various size bottlebrush trees, 

together with some flat white metal trees. 

And for the bases of some of my trees I used old door handles. 

I added a garland of greenery across the entire mantle, and then a DIY crochet garland of stars and trees in  warm cream colour. 

For my garland I used 8 ply wood and a 6mm crochet hook.

I found a pattern online that created puffy little trees and stars which you sew together and stuff with wadding. 

I crocheted a white chain rope to attach them to. 

Then I hung my chain garland slightly lower. I also added another chain garland slightly higher in a glittery gold yarn. 

On the end of the mantle I hung some gorgeous large gold bells.

For the fireplace, I added some more snowy wadding, then place a branch decorated with green bottlebrush trees.

I kept my mirrors on the mantle and hung a large wooden star as well.

I love how it all came together.
