Kitchen Restyle including Light Blue Kitchen Cabinets

This was another project that took a few attempts to achieve a look I was happy with.
Here is how my kitchen looked after it's last restyle 2 years ago ...
Before I had all white cabinets. It lacked any colour and I wanted to bring some of my new favourite colour in.
And now...

I took out the old shutter behind the hot plate and closed in the open cabinet,
moving the microwave down onto the kitchen counter.
Initially I had been looking at navy kitchen cabinets on Pinterest and was in love.
So I dove in head first and painted the cabinets in Taubmans Blue Beads, but it was just too much for such a small space. I kept if for a few days, but I always felt overwhelmed when I walked into the kitchen.

So I tried again with a shade of calming pale blue and it turned out perfect.
The colour I used was Taubmans Forever More. It has a slightly grey undertone.

This light blue really complimented the blue/grey subway tiles. Tiles that I despised before as they seemed such a strange colour.

And the walls I kept Dulux Natural White.
I also replaced all the antique bronze coloured hardware with new silver hardware.

I added a bit of colour with some faux orange flowers ...

And tidied up the benches, and decluttered all the cabinets. Go me!

The gorgeous blue coffee cups I purchased from Target. They are such a pretty shade of blue and I love that they have a large base.

I also purchased new blue striped tea towels from Ikea.

This is the other end of the kitchen where the pantry is located, and the entry to the laundry.
I kept my roadside rescue little cabinet in the corner. And my vintage first aid cabinet.
And my Ikea clock and thrifted restyled mirror.
And our wooden farmhouse style bin.
And a bowl of green apples sets the scene perfectly.

I love the calming pale blue cabinets and how clean and fresh this room feels now.

What I probably have never revealed before is that our kitchen overlooks our sun room, which sort of doubles as a toy room and homework room for the kids and an office for my desk, so it is a room that I never blog cause it is always a mess, until now.
Here is a sneak peak of the new wall colour. Blue, no surprises there! Hehe.
I'm hoping to get this room looking all pretty and ready to blog soon. :)
