Blue Drop Front Secretary

We recently got back from a holiday up the Coast and I've been feeling very restless in our home.

All the beautiful shades of white are feeling like too much white. I know, crazy right? I love white.

I don't know. Maybe it is just a readjusting phase, or maybe I just need a change and to add a little bit of colour.

Previously I've leaned towards shades of green. This time I've decided to try blue.
Or more of a grey blue to be exact.

I decided to paint the drop front secretary in our entryway.

I mixed my own paint colour for this project.
Starting with blue, adding black and then lightening it up with white.

Remember it was white before ... (surprise, surprise).

The colour deepens throughout the day as the sun moves around to the back of the house.
But I really like the different shades.

I left the key holes silver ...

And also kept the original handles ...

I kept the inside white with the old music sheet pages.

And I put my chalkboard sign above it and added one of my favourite sayings. :)

That cute orange wrapped candle I picked up on holidays at Target.
It is cranberry and orange scented and smells delicious so I wanted it in the entryway to the house. Maybe I'll be extra brave and incorporate some shades of orange too!

So far I'm quite enjoying the pop of blue.
The blue is actually quite relaxing, and not so stark white like before.

Am I likely to change my mind and repaint it white again?
Most likely. LOL.

But for now, go the blue!

:) Julie
